Ken, the picture above is a original back door, passenger side, panel. It came on my right back door I bought off ebay just to get the belt moulding I had misplaced (found later). The stainless has not been removed. Using as my guide. Notice, the top strip sits just against the top of the vinyl. My measures 1 3/8" between the two. The panels from Hampton has two lines of pre-punched holes in the cardboard that line up my original. The original also had two lines of stitching, thus the two stainless strips. Hampton omitted the lower stitching.

OK Russell, I see it now. I didn't realize I was looking at an old door panel when I first saw your picture.

We need to get the moulding stretcher for some of those extras you have there and make some longer ones for Bruce. laugh bigl

I can feel his frustration orangeupset

By the way Bruce, here's a sales doc of the 4 door Fleetline. In the lower left corner photo (the blue car), if you look carefully, you can just about make out the two mouldings on the door. And note the difference in the side windows....no rear quarter window as in the Fleetmaster.

Quick history on my Aero. Bought it on 2003. Interior was done as you see it; bodywork and paint was done; no mechanical work had been done and it had a blown head gasket in 2 places and a cracked head. I think the previous owner was going to street rod it; much of the stainless exterior trim was removed and the holes filled; took me a few years to obtain a full set of 18 pieces of fleetline fender trim and other pieces that were pretty ratty. But back to the armrest......it's been on my "to do" list to take apart and try to recover correctly. Short answer....I bought it that way crazy. I'll dig up and post some pics of when I bought it in a little bit.

Nope, no sill moulding and no rubber "running board" yet......on the list too.

Here's a few pics as I bought it in '03...

I just keep pecking away at that list....might get it done before I rust away. laugh wink

Hey Bruce, I happened to recall a post you made to me sometime back about the door weather seals
Quote
As I follow this thread I see my dramatic mistake with this installation on my 48..I followed the instructions given in the Fisher Body Manual and there is no mention of the configuration change on the hinge pillar.Boy did I mess up"15" years ago..I guess another "redo on the list"Thanks for the bad news guys..Being correct is the goal for many of us..
If you have the body manual take a gander
just double check for any possible leak. It truly would be a shame to get a water stain on that LONG awaited interior. As I hear it sometimes rains where you are located?

I will make a couple calls to some "junk yards" to see if I can come up with some mouldings.

As good as Kevin is?? cool original would be better.

Well, the original would be nicer and it would seem to me that that particular moulding wouldn't be that "coveted"...It appears to me that it's not a solid piece of stainless but a sheet-type stamping...which would be a little difficult to reproduce even in a sheet-metal shop with the necessary fixtures...I saw the photo's...Is it sheet/stainless....?

Hard to see in my pic's but not only is it stamped, but also folded over on itself, ie. two layers thick with a ridge running down the middle on the backside where the nails are attached. You may be able to machine some bar stock with a radius to look the same as the top side.

Have spent most of the day making phone calls. I thought for sure Desert Valley would have some, but alas, not so. The other guys haven't called back yet.

Chef, you've got mail. Numbers of two other places to call.
