1. Does anybody know where I can get a 29 crank cover? 2. Does anybody have a recommendation for a person who restores license plates? Thanks.

When looking for parts for your 1929, always check the Filling Station's catalog or web site first since they have a lot of parts for your vehicle. For the license plate restoration look in "Services Offered" in Hemmings Motor News or do a search on Google. You will be surprised the amount of old car services that can be found on the Internet.

Thanks. I tried the Filling Station. I should have asked for members' recommendations for the license plate painting, and if anybody out there had a crank tunnel for sale.

Tu papa,
License Plate Restoration.....
"Oregon License Plates" located in Bend, OR. Don & Tamara Brown.
They've done plates for me. GREAT work. Reasonable. NOT cheap. Less than $100.
Phone: 541-419-1141.
Not sure how many different states they do. Possibly only "area" plates. Like Oregon, Wash, Cal. Worth a call or check google for their web site.
Bill.

You can get your "Radiator Splash Apron Crank Hole Tunnel Cover W/Chrome Cap" from www.20schevyparts.com. That is where I got mine two years ago. Look at the online catalog and look under "Sheet Metal". Mr. Wallace has lots of interesting and reasonably priced items. Bob

2. Does anybody have a recommendation for a person who restores license plates? I have had a couple of sets done by Dayrrl's Plates (web site) out of PA. He did an excellent job on painting an lettering. I have one plate he did out of the two sets that I would have like to have seen a little straighter but it is presentable. He took about 3 months from the day they left to the day they came back to my home so plan ahead I ran across this site about a year ago and thought I would send my next set to them and see how they do. It is "Finish Your Plates" (web site) They look like they do nice work and seem reasonable. I don't know if you have ever worked on old license plates before but they can be a real pain in the butt. Originally the lettering on them was put on by a "roll coater" it's like a big hard rubber wheel that gets a very thin film of paint and rolls over the plate putting down just the right amount of paint. The plates must be almost perfectly flat to do this. A bent plate can end up springy like a potato chip and it is near impossible to use the roll coater. When doing body work on a badly bent plate I have often thought I would rather cut a fender in 1/2 and weld it back together than get a badly bent plate straight. Let us know who you use and how they come out.

Thanks for the note on Stanley's Parts. I was not aware of it.
