Wow!! What an unexpected pleasure!! Up here in the normally frigid northeast, yesterday was near 50° and it rained last night, washing the road salt away. The winds dried off the roads this morning and I was able to go for a ride in my '37 coupe!! Now for you southern guys, that may not be such a big deal, but for those of us in this cold & lonely outpost on the frozen Canadian border, it was a real treat!! chevy -Bob

Boetie Bob,

Oh yes! Some of us who have 'served time' in Northwest New York (4 years in Niagara Falls) can really appreciate your elation at the break in the weather.

Could you post a picture of your 37 on the forum sometime?

DocB: I've got to confess that I don't have a clue as to how to include pics on th forum, but if you click on my "Profile" button, there is a pic there (I hope!!).
We're making up for the nice weather the other day - around 22°F and 8"-12" of snow forecast by tomorrow AM. About 60" for the season, so far. Don't you miss upstate NY????

Hi Bowtie Bob.

The only way I know to post pictures is to have one already on a website somewhere... which pretty well means you have to have your own website!

Once you have your picture on a website, you post it using the "IMAGE" button under "Instant UBB Code". The chat site prompts you through the process after you get this far.

Here is a picture of my '37 1/2 ton cab being removed last month:

Your picture stays at your website, the VCCA chat site just links to it. If you like, I could post your picture for a while. Send it to me at lenn@sprynet.com.

Talk with you later,

Lenn.

OK, I'm going to try post a pic and see what happens. If the entire net goes down, I'm not responsible!!

Bowtie Bob,
Your picture doesn't show a lot of snow! Must be nice. Dan.

K1dan: I followed your instructions and I can create a hyperlink to the pic, but it just doesn't bring the pic up on the posting. chevy -Bob

I know exactly how you feel, the post you read was supposed to tell you how to do it, but like you I messed somthing up and I wound up steering you wrong. I'll work on it and try again.

Dan.

Well, as you can see, it worked for me. (I cheated, and edited my reply, the working code looks like:

(IMG)http://home.rochester.rr.com/mrplates/37chev2.jpg/(/IMG)

where you have to replace the regular parentheses around the IMG tags with square ones.

Looking at what you did, I can't tell what when wrong either. You should be able to preview the post though, what you see is what you get!

Talk with you later...

Lenn.

I forgot to say... THAT IS NICE!! I'm obviously into trucks, but if I were to want a car, it would be a '37 coupe.

Is it black, or really dark blue? I'm still thinking of colors for my '37 1/2 ton, and am considering both. It was dark blue, is now light blue, but black is a possiblility since trucks didn't have color information on their ID tags.

Bowtie Bob,
As a fellow upstater, growing up norhtwest of Plattsburgh and now living 50 miles south west of Kingston I know how you felt taking your '37 out for a ride the other day.
We just the the crankshaft of my son's '51 Chevy 4dr sedan to get turned last week and this time last year here in the Catskills we were driving the old girl, since we didn't get enough snow to say so all last winter.
But my what a difference a year makes, right now it is snowing hard and the wind is blowing, just like up home in Clinton County.
By the way the '37 looks great. Bob

Thanks for the compliments :o , but don't buy a car from a picture! wink It's not bad for a 48 year old paint job (black) and the interior is all original. I rebuilt the engine and installed "hi-speed" gears (3.73:1) along with a manually operated Borg-Warner overdrive. It runs great and besides local driving, we usually drive it for a one-week's vacation every year. Only in America do you leave your new, comfortable, air conditioned car home and drive a 65 year old car in hot, sweltering weather!! I've thought of restoring it, but I just kind of feel at home when I'm in it the way it is - kind of like an old comfortable pair of shoes!! chevy -Bob

Chev Nut: You're right, those doors look bad enough for a F#@d garage!! Actually, my wife & I were out cruising and I'm always on the look-out for old barns. When I saw this one, I whipped off into the overgrown driveway and took a couple of pics. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but then she knows me better than most!!

Looks like your new PC is cranking away pretty good, Gene. Must have a Chevy 6 cylinder powering it, eh?
