I have a 1933 Sedan Delivery with the AC 1523849 fuel pump. It doesn't pump properly on the car, (Very weak) but pumps well on the bench. Looking for any info on this situation.

Didn't find that number in any of the Chevy parts book where I looked. Maybe not a Chevy part number.

1523849 is the AC number stamped on the mounting flange. I'm told that the 152 portion is some kind of an identifier and the rest, 3849, is also some other information, that I don't understand. However, I'm told that this is enough information say that it fits a 1933 Chevrolet. (And other vehicles also)
It was on my 33 Sedan Delivery when I got the car. My problem is, it doesn't pump as much as it should when on the car but it pumps well on the bench. It has been rebuilt.

The part number for the '29-'33 fuel pump is 856198 later 1523405 ('42). It is also listed as an AC #405. I will be stamped 856198 or 855235.

I have a fuel pump # 1523089 that works fine on my 37 and 52. Also have one AC with no numbers.

Hi Joe
I checked my AC fuel pump books and the AC long part number 1523849 crosses to the AC short number 405X which is what I can tell from my books is a replacement fuel pump to fit 1929-33 Chevrolet. In all AC fuel pump books or catalogs, there is a section that shows you how to cross the long factory part number (6 or 7 digits) to the AC short sales number (3 or 4 digits). Up to 3-4 factory part numbers can be replaced by the short sales number which could be a replacement fuel pump and may not be what originally came on the car.

Hope this helps.

Sedan Delivery,
Guess that brings us to the problem of low fuel flow at the carburetor. I can think of several potential problems. Wear on pump arm, wear on cam lobe, wear on pin or casting holding the pump arm, missing spring cups, leaking valves, weak valve springs, valves not seating properly, ....

Basically the stroke length is not enough to move the diaphragm far enough or there are leaks internally.
