Hi Everyone, we are new to this forum, we live in New Zealand. We have 3 chevs - a '39 pick up, a '37 master deluxe 4 door fastback and a '39 master deluxe 4 door fastback. We would like some info regarding the 2 cars if possible - one book that we have says that there were under 100 '39 fastbacks made, does anyone know if this is true? And does anyone know how many '37 fastbacks were made? Any info would be much appreciated, thanks in advance, Maree and Richard.

Hello Richard and Maree,Welcome to the group. These are the production figrues that I have for the fast back cars. These are for the US built Fisher body cars. They have no opening to the rear and a spare tire is mounted on the rear of the body. There were 2221 1937 Master DeLuxe (Kneeaction front suspension) cars made and only 68 of the same in 1939.Needless to say they are considered very rare cars. There were slightly more produced in the lower priced straight front axle Master series.

Hi there, Thanks alot for that, do you know if any others were made outside the US or not? We would just like to know what we are dealing with before we start restoring it. They both have the front knee action. The '39 is missing its VIN plate so we cant tell where it was assembled. I was wondering if any were made in Australia as we know of another couple of fastbacks around? Thanks again, Maree & Richard

My sorce just refers to US production. Many of the cars that were sent to Australia & New Zealand were of Canadian decent so the production numbers could have been different there. Are your cars right hand drive??

Hi, Yes all of our chevs are right hand drive. Im pretty sure the '37 was assembled in Canada according to the vin plate, but the '39 truck and '39 car are both missing their VIN plates.

Thanks

For US & Holden production look at web site < http://la.znet.com/~c1937/Prod.htm >.
I don't have any info specifically for New Zealand cars.
