My ads on the forum have generated some interest but no solid offers, so on Ebay she goes. The quirks have been addressed and she made a 10 mile trip today in 97 degree heat with no issues. Here's the Ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150843801164

I hope you will reach a fair price for the nice car. Good luck, my friend!

Thanks Solan, the bid price is well on the way and I am happy with the way the auction is going so far. I posted the link over in the Model T forum and caused quite a stir. You guys may get a chuckle out of the "490 vs T" discussion! http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/257047/297770.html?1340629467

Well, the "T" guys deleted the thread. Guess they can't handle the truth.

I managed to read the thread last night. I have also discovered that you can make a lot of noise by "interfearing" another brand club with some action like this here. The T-guys are in a way lucky to get almost every part of the car in a day or two. Still I would not have changed from my Four-Ninety.

I thought that was quite funny, especially about the broken axles, particularly since the T and 490 axles, and crown wheels and pinions are interchangable.

Don't tell those T guys that we know that the axles and ring gears are interchangeable. They would realize that the 490 must have much more power to break more axles. Then there are the four springs vs. two on the T. Don't need Dramamine to ride in a Chevy. Just let them revel (grovel?) in the dirt.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

As a reformed Model T owner (mine was a '21 Touring), I have to say that both cars have their pluses and minuses. The T was terrific on back roads - the rougher the better. And the enclosed valve train was a superior design for durability. But I wouldn't trade the Chevy's OHV's, proper steering gear at the bottom of the column, or sliding gear transmission (as much as I enjoy doing the Model T 3-pedal quick step). I definitely miss having my choice of parts catalogs. Most importantly though, both cars are a blast to drive.

CORetiree,
Well said, couldn't agree more! Chevrolet was certainly a company on the move. Making the electric starter/generator standard, headlights wired in parallel and not in series, distributor ignition, having both gas pedal and hand throttle, and a 6 inch longer wheelbase. A buyer certainly got more for the extra money the 490 cost.
Cheers, Gary

Well, I ended the auction early when a local buyer showed up with a trailer and cash. Got back everything I had put into it except shipping from Hershey.
It was a little sad watching the old girl drive away on the trailer, but she did teach me that I'm not cut out for 20's cars. If I get another classic, it will be late 30's or early 40's (the only size "newer" car that will fit in my 20's era garage.).
Anyway, just want to say that all the advice here on the forum was much appreciated. I suspect you'll be hearing from the new (Kentucky) owner sooner or later.
