We would do something similar when changing the alternator belt on the cars with several belt systems. We would disconnect the coil wire and hook up a remote starter button and put a long screwdriver at a angle and flip the belt when hitting the starter button. The we would not have to adjust the old belts just the one we replaced. It saved a few minutes. Wasn't flat rate times great. Chuick

There are two things that bother me about the technique. First it is necessary to stretch the belt to get it on the pulley. That has to damage the belt to some extent.

The other is safety. A belt and pulley can remove a finger in a flash. Can also throw the screwdriver in an unintended direction. Like at your face.

Chipper...Is that not the way us guys do things in America???
That is the reason we are the greatest nation in the world.
It is the spirit of "giter done" and the ability to solve any problem that pop's up with just innovation to work with.
A perfect example of this talent was World War II when Americans joined together to solve any problem that faced them...A example was in the pacific when the Sea-bees had the responsibility to string the communication wires all around the islands that were being fought for against the Japanese...They had no glass insulators to string the wire to.. so the put there heads together and used empty COKE BOTTLES for insulators, some are still there in use today....ED
