I am remaking the wood and ran into this. The front uprights hook to the top rails with a long bolt. Why. Is this to adjust the top alignment for the windshild. Can I just glue and screw the joint together without hurting something later. Thanks Paul

Hi Rivard,
I have the cowl and dash metal off my car. I think you are talking about the long bolt in the corner that runs from the top iron down at an angle and ends with the triangular block. I see this as an important feature that pulls the joint together while distributing the forces from the windshield into the wood frame. Remember the force appllied to the windshield at the blazing speed of 25 MPH is substantial. I would not vary from the original design.

Just a comment to the wind pressure on the front screen when trailing a Four-Ninety in around 70 km/h (45 miles) on an open trailer:

Loosen the nuts on each side of the wind screen and turn the two halves nearly horizontal, but somewhat lower in the front. Then you will have no danger to destroy the connection between the frame and the torpedo.

I am repairing the roof of my youngest son these days, so I cannot promise pictures before the weekend.

I would love to see a picture of the front triangle piece. I am trying to figure out the correct way to fasten the front pillar to the top. Mine is rotted about an inch and a half, so I'm working with very little. The long bolt is there but I can't figure out if I am missing other parts to make it work. Thanks for any help

Thanks for taking a picture. The nut is behind the top hingde of the door. I was told a hole was drilled from the top piece into the pillar and a square hole was made for the nut, to tighten the top to the pillar. Makes sence but I would rather do things right the first time. Thanks for all the help. Paul
