Does the 38 HA coupe (master deluxe) have the dome light switch on the dome light?

Thanks Gene. Would anyone have a picture of this switch showing it's location? My 38 master deluxe coupe had the dome light with the switch on the light fixture when I bought it. The car is disassembled for restoration and I can't see where a switch would be mounted.

The 1938 "MASTER" has the dome light switch on the fixture. (pull down the small switch to turn on)
Your car may be a "Master"??????.......ED

My coupe is a HA model, knee action front end etc. The dome light is not likely original type.

The switch was on the right "B" pillar about 1/2 way up. There should be some screw holels for mounting the switch/bezel in the sheet metal.
I have a lot of pictures but most are for the left side.

I have what I believe is a '38 Master Deluxe switch plate, no switch. If you find a photo of one and want to compare it to mine, I can email you a photo of it. If it is what you need, you can have it if you want it. Beamer

Thanks for the responses. I do not see any screw holes on either B pillar. A photo of the dome switch in a 38 HA coupe would really help me see how the switch fits on the narrow B pillar. I'm hopping there must be at least one forum member with a 38 HA coupe that could possibly help with photo. Beamer, thanks for the switch plate offer; it might be part of what I need. I just need to see what I am looking for first.

All 37-38 Business Coupes have the switch on the dome lamp. All 37-38 Master Sedans and Coaches have the switch on the dome lamp. Here is a picture of the dome lamp with push-pull switch from my '38 Master Deluxe Business Coupe.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking since the business coupe B pillar is rather narrow and my 38 HA coupe body does not have any mounting holes on the B pillar and has the switch on the fixture as you describe. I've also never seen a 38 business coupe with the switch on the door pillar, but since there aren't a lot of these cars left my experience is a bit slim.

I do not believe any '38 coupe has a dome light switch on the pillar. I have a '38 HA coupe, 2 '37 coupes (one GA, one GB) and have checked with a friend who has an HA coupe. All of these have the switch at the dome light with a knurled knob at the end of a stem going through the light rim. Also the '38 Parts Book, the '29-'38 PartsBook and the '29-'39 Parts Book all show the same dome light for all the '37 and '38 coupes.

Be sure not to lose that knurled stem. I've not found anyone repopping them & never seen one at a swap meet either.

According to the wiring diagram posted, their are no wires in the drivers side post, the gas gauge and dome light wires are in the passengers side post. So I don't have to worry about drilling into any wires when I drill to mount the spotlight on the drivers side...right? Great news!! wave

There is a fish wire in the left post used to pull the over head speaker wire between the radio box and the speaker when you install that type radio. Nothing electrical to get into.

Thanks.. I see in the accessory book that some 38s have a HUGE antenna that bows over the top of the car, maybe that fish wire serves two uses. The other antenna goes UNDER the running boards. Sorta wierd for a radio that picks up two stations ...smiles

Most members don't live out in the pucker-brush and receive many stations.

I would assume that "pucker brush" is what you would call the facial growth that a teen age kid has while trying to grow a beard....ED

Steve...I told you once before that "Bull's Gap" is were my father came from...My last name is Pinkston...Half of Bull's Gap is filled with Pinkston's...We even have our own Cemetery there....The Civil war battle of "Blue Springs" was fought on my Grand Fathers farm there...Don't blame me...Not my fault...ED
