Hi there, I am a new owner and new to the world of vintage cars I have aquired a 32' chevrolet confederate BA which is in need of a lot of work. I am eager to learn and to do much research. Words of wisdom are greatly appreciated if you have any at this time for me :)
I can tell you a bit about the car... will have photos to follow soon..
Car was built in Oshawa, Ontario and eventually made its way to British Columbia where it sat for many years till I bought it for an offer I could not refuse. It is in need of a resto but has been garaged for almost its whole life as far as I can tell and have been told.
I'm not exactly sure where to start on it. I was told gas tank, fuel lines, etc. I have bought plugs and a cap for it and it will most surely need new spark plug wires and what not.
Unfortunately mice had made a nice home out of the interior.

Do not run the engine until you put an inline throw away fuel filter before the fuel pump

Congratulations on your purchase! You have found the right place to get the answers to all your questions about your car. I also own a Canadian-built '32 -- a Sport Coupe. I also strongly recommend that you join the VCCA. It's a great club, the monthly magazine, the "G&D" is super and you'll find it very helpful as you work on the car. You can join online at this website: www.vcca.orgOne recommendation: Don't try to start it until you've done a thorough search through the old postings here on Chevy Chatter II about starting up old engines which haven't been run in a long while. That could make it easier and avoid some damage. Again, congratulations! All the Best, Chip

The mice may have made a deadly home out of your car's interior. Please don't do anything to your car until you have gone to Google and entered the word HANTAVIRUS. This is a virus carried by deer mice, and the virus is transferred to humans via mice urine, dust from mice excrement etc. The symptoms are flu-like for the first few days, and then shortness of breath because the lungs are filling with fluid. Untreated, the virus can kill you within two weeks. This happened to a friend of mine in Pennsylvania about five years ago after he cleaned mice nests out from under the front seat of his antique Buick. He went to his doctor when he had shortness of breath, and his smart doctor recognized the symptoms and asked the right questions. My friend was treated and survived. Be careful, and good luck with your restoration.

Yeah I wouldnt get close to the car when I first bought it. I wore a dust mask and gloves and did much vaccuming and what not. I have also removed the fabric roof which was rotted through so that I could vent it more. This was months ago so I would think that there isnt anything in there. It wasnt recently occupied by mice, probably years ago as the mouse I did find was mumified! Thanks for the warning though, you never can be too careful

Thank you! I will most defeinitely look into that. I got to drive a 32 coupe from a man in maple ridge, It was very neat to drive a car much like mine, gave me a good idea of what I was getting into.
I will Not be starting the engine until I do work to fuel lines and everything else surronding the process. I know of someone here who has started some older cars that have not in quite sometime.
I DID however put old diesel fuel in the cylinders and let it sit, I am sure it has evaporated by now.

One other thing is to take a lot of pictures before you start removing items. It always helped me with my 31 coupe to be able to go back and see just how it was when I started. Good luck with your project and really consider joining this great club. You can also advertise all over the world for parts in the monthly magazine for free.

That was a great tip! I have taken tons of photos already and any screw or bit at all that comes off(or falls off) gets put in a bag with a tag on it.
