OP 728 Shade Tree Mechanic Joined: Aug 2003 Posts: 110 Loveland, CO	I just found a 2-pc. shield for a distributor. Sticker inside says "reduces ignition interference in vehicle radio". Fits over the contact set. Says D106P or D112P. This unit is 2 halves and covers the points/condenser for a V8 Chevy. Not sure of application and can't find a part number in my 64 or 67 parts book. The points appear to be listed for a 66-67 Chevelle 396 (??). I'm sure one of you guys know what this is. Ron Holzschuh

This electrical noise can be heard in the radio in some conditions. The shield is placed over the V-8 points to contain that noise. Ron, These ignition points shields became very common in '68 on up when GM-Chevy went to the windshield antenna.I have had 2 low mileage untouched '70 B-Bodies and both had the shield.These were usually pitched at first tune up,though.The points listed on the paper tag inside the shield were for lower profile point assembly to clear the shield.I put up several close ups of a shield just after removal off my 10k mile '70 Impala 350.
