Also specify that you don,t want a '37 starter if you have a '49 engine and flywheel housing.The original '37 starter fits only a '37.It has a rather long iron housing between the starter motor housing and the flywheel housing that it bolts unto.It was the last year that used the old starter drive with the big spring secured with a bolt on each end (around it)The later starter has a short drive with just a small return coil spring between the fork sleve and gear.The 37 could be floor pedal operated or if a deLuxe gas pedal operated.If you are luckey to have the '49 starter it fits 38 to 48 cars and 48 to 54 trucks.If its the later starter than you will also have the 1938 and newer clutch and flywheel which also is a big improvement over the old '37 type.
