I am looking for a newer style Chevrolet front-end(80’s or earlier) to fit on my 40 4 door. I thought there may be a newer Chevrolet front-end that would bolt into the original bolt hole locations without the welding? Is there anything like that out there??? I would like to remove the old knee action shock system. auto

There are kits made to upgrade the 40 if you want to use a chevy unit from a salvage car you will have to stub to your frame..doc

This won't get you much ahead in years, but the 1949-54 complete front suspenson seems to work ok on 1939-48 models. Replacement parts are available. (FYI Corvettes from 1953-1962 shared the same front suspension as the 1949-1954 cars.
