Dear All goodmorning , pls help me !!!
In the last weeks I have purchased in NJ a 1940 Old Chevy special deluxe sport sedan.
I had various problems to send car in Italy but now it is in my home garage.
Now I have trobles with italian bureaucracy: they ask me a picture of the small plate with car number chassis.
This plate was originally on the floor to the right of passenger but my car does not have it. I can not to register my car if I don't resolve this problem.
Is there someone who can help me ?
Is there a number chassis stamped directly on the chassis ?
Thks in advance for your help.
Best regards from Italy
Ciao
Maurizio
PS Is it possible to have ads of US firms that reproduce Chevy body plate?
Sorry for my bad english

Maurizio, Have you exhausted all possibilities in your search for the vehicle serial number tag location. Chevrolet placed then at various locations on their vehicles throughout the years. In the case of the 1940 models, I'm not sure where the tag was originally located. Maybe someone who knows will tell you exactly where to look.

By the way, don't worry about your English. I believe everyone understands exactly what your questions are. If I had to address you in Italian, we would never start this conversation.

The serial number identification plate for all 1940 Chevrolets is located under the front floor mat on the passenger side. It is bolted to the front floor area with 2 small screws. The identification plate is about 1.75" by 3.5". It is a painted aluminum plate with the Chevrolet logo across the top of the plate. Across the bottom of the plate will be a series of numbers and letters. It will read something like: 3KA06 15562
A reproduction identification plate is available from Chevs of the 40's for about $21 plus shipping. Their number is 1-800-999-2438
I hope that this helps.
