Having trouble aligning hood to cowl and radiator openings. side panels don't line up with opening hit in the front section. hood will move side to side and will fit great on left side but still off on the right. have loosened up fenders and fixed it somewhat but returns back when tightened up. Thank you Ron

Are you sure the frame is straight? Accurately cross measuring in several places and determining if one side is higher than the other (several ways to do that) will confirm it is or isn't. If the frame is indeed straight then make sure that the cab is centered on the frame. Once that is done the parts can be aligned.
If the frame is bent or distorted it can be very difficult to get parts to look like they fit.

Hi Fernald welcome to chat. As a retired bodyman I can tell you there is no science to it just common sense. Take things one at a time. Incorrect hood side gap usually means either the cab or grille shell is high, low or tilted. Start with the cab and work forward. Has the cab been off? Are the wood spacers between the rear of cab and frame? Remove the fenders and running boards and try to fit the hood to the cowel by moving the grille shell up or left or right untill it's achieved. You must have all the cowl lace and rubber bumpers in place to do this. Are the radiator support to frame holes aligned? If so bolt it down, shim as nessary. If not there may be frame damage fron a prior collision. Check the frame by cross measuring as outlined in the repair manual. If you were able to secure the radiator support install the radiator to cowl support rods and adjust for a even hood side gap on both sides. Now is it time bolt the fenders to the shell. Do they fit? If not a fender or the grille shell may be bent even though it looks OK. Finally install the running boards to the fenders then to the frame. Hope this helps, good luck with your project. Jay

41carguy Thanks for the advice. I'am in the process of raising radiator shell for the alignment. Really close to being right but not yet. A little more work and patience. Thank You Ron Fernald
