Took the 32 for a drive and noticed that the radiator cap was loose. I got the spare cap and it fits great. It seems the taps on the bottom of the cap do not hold the cap secure. I also noticed the gasket was not flat. Before I dig into the whole disassemble process. From what I see the center screw should come out (once it is cleaned and a slot is found) Are there new tap assemblies and gaskets available ? Or do I need to make a gasket and find a cap with good tabs?

I had a similar situation develop with my eagle cap. What had happened was that the under surface of the tab which contacts the filler neck had eroded. This meant that you could get the cap tight enough by rotating the cap further, but the eagle wouldn't be looking forward. You wouldn't have that problem with a plain cap since you would just tighten it more. Since the ends of the tabs which contacted the filler neck were almost corroded off, the solution was to disassemble the tab from the cap and restore the tab with a little weld. Someone earlier had done the same thing years ago. Making a new tab would not be too big a deal. The problem is getting the tab off without damaging the cap, finding the pot metal threads stripped and retapping to a larger size. Making a new gasket is not too hard. Put it all together and go down the road.

Whatever you decided to do, be careful because the original Eagle radiator cap was made of pot metal.
