Hello, does anybody know what happened with a hemmings website? Had stored it on my PC, it was about car and engine identification and assembling plants of pre war chevy cars, the link was:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/chevytalk/index1.html

and now I wanted to help a pal here to find out details of his 1940 assembled in argentina, a RHD car, and to my big dissdapointment the website is gone.

Does anybody know what happened?

Hello germanchevy,

Good question, and someone here might know the answer, but why don't you go to the Hemmings and ask the question?

Send an email directly to..........

rlentinello@hemmings.com

Richard Lentinello is the editor-in-chief of Hemmings Motor News and should be able to help answer your question.

I have communicated with him in the past and he is usually very responsive.

Good luck

Google www.hemmings.com. to get Hemmings or if you are after the Chevytalk group, Google www.chevytalk.org. It appears that Chevytalk is no longer hosted by Hemmings. There are other clubs still being hosted on the Hemmings web site.

I have the same problem. I had all of the production, casting numbers and etc. bookmarked and when I checked several weeks ago all of the sites were gone.

If you hear back from Hemmings let us know what you find out and if they give you some new links to the sites please post them here.

Maybe David Hayward or Ken Kaufmann can answer the question. It is their site that is missing.

Wonder if VCCA has enough bandwith to host the site if Hemmings will not?

If you are looking for the PDF file that was posted for Canadian engine casting numbers, I have a copy.

If i remember correctly while researching the 1934-35 chevrolet roadster RHD i bought , that was assembled in argentina.

Argentina switched from right hand drive to left hand drive in 1939.

Stefan,

Sorry to hear you had trouble contacting Hemmings.

I have sent Richard Lentinello an email with your question. Let's see if we get an answer.

I copied you with the email to Richard.

I tried, but I could not get the Hemmings links to work. I then googled the subject matter of the 3 links I had bookmarked, and I found these alternatives:

1935 TO 1942 CHEVROLET CAR BODY NUMBERS:
http://hotrod.gregwapling.com/chevrolet/1935to1942models.html

1930 to 1952 ASSEMBLY PLANT CODES:
http://www.gregwapling.com/hotrod/chevrolet/1930onplantcodes.html

casting numbers, heads and blocks, various dates:
http://hotrod.gregwapling.com/chevrolet/1916-57cast.html

I'm going to print those, soon as I figure out how this printer works.
