cleaned out the tank...sending unit and float seemed to work...I hooked up wire and needle goes all the way to full..not that much gas in it....any help? Virg

You need to check the ground for the tank, the sending unit has to be grounded. If you unhook the wire on at the tank and ground it the gauge should go to empty and that will tell you your gauge and wiring to it is ok.

Virg, If the needle is going past the full mark, it indicates there is an "open" in the wire from the dash unit to the tank unit.
