I know it has been mentioned before but i did a search and couldn't find any thing here, if I go to my local brake shop what sort of material should I ask for? and what are the proper sizes for a '28, front rear and hand brake, RAY

Hi Ray,

Soft woven linings are needed for mechanical brakes. Here is a link to a similar question from a few years back:

I had the brake linings replaced at a truck shop with 3/16 webbing two years ago they work great. Hutch

Hey Hutch do you remember the name or the material used some woven modern stuff is not so good for steel drums,RAY

Ray, I am not positive but I think it was a cotten and fiberglass blend of some type. It was stiff but not hard. It was used on parking brake mounted on the drive shaft of some older trucks. Hope this helps. Hutch
