Has anyone replaced the stock headlight bulbs on a 32 confederate with halogen bulbs?

Does the generator produce enough power to operate them?

I have a set but never tried them. Have found that with good silvered reflectors and 1000 bulbs the lights are sufficient to be seen and also see the road ahead far enough at 40+ mph that I feel safe driving at night. The key factor is silvered (or vapor deposited aluminum) reflectors not halogen bulbs in my opinion.

Besides I have problems with on coming halogen headlights. They are not safe in my opinion as some of us more mature folks care partially blinded by them.

I put the halogen bulbs on my 30, didn't make much of a difference until renewed the refectors. There is a definite improvement with halogens but nowhere close to the light from sealed beams.

Installing Halogen bulbs is hard on the generator. Take Chipper's suggestion and stay with the original lights.

As JYD said the Halogens will be hard on the generator. That is if the wiring holds up long enough to cause generator problems. The draw on the headlight wiring will increase drastically.
