Kevin is correct in that they don't work unless the car in moving but even then they don't work well in humid air. They work much better in the west where the climate is dryer. My parents bought one when they vacationed out west in 1957 and I remember them saying it made the trip bearable. When we were cleaning out their attic after selling the house in 1995 I found it all wrapped up. It looks like new and I have mounted it on my 47 4-dr Fleetline several times when going to a cruise or show. Sure does attract a lot of attention.

I have a Thermador swamp cooler on my 48. You can't use the visor with a cooler on the glass or door, so you'll only be using 3 visors. My swamp cooler gets a lot of attention at car shows. It's always the older generation that knows what the heck it is, never the young guys.

Nice on on ebay right now. Check it out. Not sure the cite will come through. But you can pull it up by going to "1941 Chevrolet."

I've wondered how often you need to "re-water" those units...once an hour...?...a day...?
What's their H20 capacity...?

It is a nice one. Box, instructions, item and all.

F W I W, I bought a nice, used one a couple of years ago at a garage sale for $100. No orig box or instructions; but definitely a nice item in gently used condition. I sold it last month at the Portland Swap Meet for a little over $300.

Here's an easier link to the one on ebay.

I was wondering. Can those things be fitted to a convertible? Now that would be "cool." Especially, with the top down. That setup probably wouldn't even be questioned or trigger any puzzlement for folks around Cincinnati. Agrin

I think I'll get a small blow heater case and make one. What do you call those blow heaters like they use in less modern garages? Jet blowers? I can't remember. hood

Thanks, for the "link" Bill...I can't seem to remember how to do that, from day to day...

Charlie, you mount two of them "space heaters"...Backwards...And tell folks theys the original proto-type jet engines...
Another reason the '41's were far superior...! grin

Well Kevin, you don't always remember how to do the link and I don't know how to post pictures. I guess we're about even.

F W I W, the swamp cooler auction ends in a little less than two days and it's currently at $2500 bid. Wow!! Bid history shows a big time ebay guy started bidding at $1000, then $1500, then $2000 and now at $2500. All I can say is amazing....

Bill.

I wonder if it would be wise to mount it. Also, the box is probably worth as much as the cooler.

The only thing I can see when a cooler like this would be really useful is if you belonged to a "car pool" with a certain individual that posts on this site (No need to mention his name) who would consistently fill your car with a constant stream of "HOT AIR"...DOES TOO!
One guess who I am talking about ???......ED

I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Well Bill, I got news for you ...I can't post pictures either...And it's a good thing, too. Or you'd be tired of my corny "posts" and sick of looking at my car from every angle...lol
