hey fellas,i want to hook up my horn,but as i removed my steering wheel their is nothing their,just the shaft where the steering wheel attaches to.so im searching for what am i missing to make my horn work.pics would be helpfull.thanks guys.

It's the fuction of the horn ring creating a ground when coming in contact with mastor the shaft.The power is a ring that slides onto the top part of the shaft and has a wire on it the runs out the mast and is sent to a power source and relay from there...the adjustment is a moveable cap at the bottom of the horn ring...

That's Odd...And it's the Original Steering Wheel...?
I'm just fooling around...The wire , and I'll start out assuming that's what your looking for, is soldered to the "upper mast bushing" ( 6.521 ). You can't see it, from where your sitting. You can see the wire where it exit's the "mast" about half way down the column ( under the hood ) I'll also assume that wire is hooked to the relay...
So where were we...The rubber...you got the rubber "ring" behind the wheel, still ? And how about the two little "plug" like bushings for the wheel itself...
That rubber "ring" part is important...and it ain't cheap if you need it, 'round $28

yea i have the wire coming out the bottom of the column,is just that their is nothing underneath the wheel (parts)no horn ring,no spring,nothing.so i just dont know what hardware i need.

The "pad" gets old and falls apart, usually only leaving bits & pieces...Steele Rubber Co. is the only maker of these pads, that I know of ( that's why they's pricy ) Find it at the Fillingstation....

I don't see anything on the "tip" of the shaft...but the tip.

"pad" comes with the "cushions", too. ( 2.816 )

im goona post pic of what i have,looks like either the shaft was cut or banged

The end (tip) of the shaft, p/n 6.524, should be threaded to accept the nut, p/n 6.515.

Was there a nut on the end of the shaft on your steering wheel?

OK, that second picture is a better view. Looks like it is threaded and banged up a little on the edges.

Yes, you need the rubber pad and the two rubber cushions that go with it. Filling Station has it.....about $30 for the three pieces.

Just wondering, while you have the wheel off, does the horn work if you jump from the bushing to the shaft with a screwdriver?

It was just part of the manufacturing process...The Round Stock ( Steering Shaft ) was cut to length, first in horizontal band saws ( there's your "finish" cut ) then brought over to the "Turret Lathe" Dept., where the ends were machined to specifications...Knerreled and Threaded, one end at a time, kind of a "second operation" thing, as they call it...

Well, that looks like mine ,too...A little bent from a little "road rage", I suppose. Or perhaps from "why won't this *%#% thing work rage"...lol
Gonna leave mine like that...What's the use...? Just don't try to bend it back...! Then you WILL be buying another...! grin
