Hey Jerry,

How about I come over and help you paint the beast, no charge my friend.

But then there is the air fare you would pick up, the bed and board for 8 weeks (I am a very slow painter), the 3 meals a day, very big on the bacon and eggs by the way, and the use of your car on the weekends. Hey I cant work 7 days a week you know.

Then there is the health insurance, medical plan, and a mobile phone with international roaming.

On the other hand, think you and Sadie better have a talk. Maybe that guys price was not that dear after all.

heh heh heh

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Dear All,

A few months ago you have been a great help identifying our Chevy truck.
Now it is near the end of the restore. For the homologation, I need to prepare a file to prove which model it really is.

According to your messages in this post, it is a 1927 one-ton truck. Is is possible to have copies of the chassis lists, engine lists, documents, etc. where you found this ? This would be a great help, please send the files in PM.

Thanks again for your help !!

Our truck is nearly finished and for the registration, I have to supply documents which confirm its age and origin according to the numbers (chassis and engine) supplied in this post !

Who could send me some scans or anything per email ?? You can contact me using PM.

Kind regards,

I sent you a PM. Scanned a '27 truck brochure that should document your truck. The '28 modifications were described in the Chat forum.

according to all you messages, our truck is a 1927 1/2 ton (because of AA chassis), but looking like a 1 Ton Truck because of the wheels.

My question : Is there any 1-ton Truck with AA chassis number ?

what do you think?
- wrong chassis number (it looks like original on the chassis, at the rear right end when looking to the truck from behind)
- Wheels changed ? (front axle changed; why not the wheels?)
- Or indeed AA Capitol 1-Ton ???

What is the wheelbase of the truck? 103" is the 1/2 ton. 124" is the 1 ton. AA would be part of the serial number for a 1/2 ton and LM for the 1 ton.

Someone could have switched paperwork and even the ID plate between trucks or a car and truck. Only a few people would know the difference.

1) the wheelbase of our truck is 124"
2)The chassis number is stamped at the rear right of the chassis, and it looks original
3)The number on the chassis is matching with a little plate fixed on the dash board which also looks original (see picture bellow)
4) the engine code on this plate is corresponding to our engine => plate + Chassis + Engine same origin.

I would deduct that my car is a Capitol AA 1-ton truck. According to the list you sent me (ex. http://home.earthlink.net/~scrippsbooth/chevmodels.html), it didn't exist.

Has someone the history of trucks delivered in Europe ?
Has someone the "backup" of all the chevrolet production list where we could find my chassis number ?

Here is the plate on the dash board :

Thanks

The 2AA .... number is a mystery to me. David Hayword has done a vast amount of research on non-USA assembled vehicles. He frequents ChatII so may be able to provide more information on your truck.

Hello!

The restore of our Chevy comes slowly to its end...

I still have a problem with the chassis number for the registration.

Question 1 : where is the number originaly ingraved on a 1927-1928 Chevy 1-ton Truck ?

Question 2 : according to posts above, the AA number is a 1/2 Ton chassis... our is a one Ton and has AA ! is there any new information since the last discussions ?

Please note that it is an export model, originally in Spain as hearse.

Thanks for your help !

Dear All,

The complete restore of our truck is finished! you will find below a few pics...
On thursday I have a meeting with the swiss authorities for the "permit". As you may remember, we have difficulties to identify this truck precisely.
I have a few question :
1) is there any new information in the Chevrolet history that would allow to have a "Capitol AA 1 Ton truck" ? Our truck has everything from an LM 1927 truck but the serial number starts with 2AA...
as you can read above in old posts, the truck came from Spain so seems to be an european version.
2) for those who have a 1927 Chevrolet, can you inform where the serial number is written on the chassis ?
