Gidday Fellas,

Does anyone still make these??

If not does anyone have any spare laying around I could buy??

If not what would be a good substitute to use??

So I am talking about a 1928 tourer windscreen part because yesterday I pulled the windscreen off the car including the mounting brackets as I want to replace the glass with a more modern non shattering glass for the RWC when the time comes.
Yes it all came apart easily and there was a little rust in the channels of the windcreen frame but nothing that a little clean up won't fix.... But my problem is that the 4 x metal caps with the hole for the screw to go through that hold/lock the screen down tight once in position were rusted and non useable again....

Any help or advice on where or who has these would be great...

Cheers Grant.

Mine were rusted so as the hole was to big for the screw, so as the head of the screw would pass straight through.

I cleaned them up, used some bakers soldering fluid (zinc chloride 400 g/l), then applied some lead-tin solder with a good old fassioned copper head iron. File to shape and drill a new hole for the screw.

Gidday Fellas,

many thanks for the heads up and offer...

I called by a mates place today and he said he could knock me up a couple of the parts I am wanting, so all is good....

But I am still desperate for a 28" spare rim if anyone in Victoria, Oz is watching

Cheers Grant.

Hi Grant,

Do you want those parts pre rusted, or will you create your own patina. Only joshing.

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/
