The hose goes to wiper motor....That is a vacuum supply to make the wipers operate

Virg912,
Here's how it goes in my '50 with a '54 235.

The 1953 and 1954 is completely different as the wiper motor is exposed on the front of the firewall under the hood.

One is the wipers and the other is for the automatic trans.

On my 1950 with standard trans it only has one and it goes to the wipers. On my 52 one to wipers and one to auto trans, the auto choke has no vac. hose. I think your engine came from a car with auto trans and you need the correct manifold fitting to eliminate that other line.
