I'm sure someone has the answer to your question. If it doesn't let me know. I MIGHT be able to help you out.
I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.

I seem to recall this question was answered here before but I am not sure. There are differences in many of the parts so you better wait for one of the experts to weigh in.

A 1932 head will fit on a 1931 engine. The rocker gear is different between to two years , so you may want to stick with the 1932 rockers on a 1932 head.
There is also some differences with the Manifold sleeves and also the side plate has additional holes along the top edge for 3 extra screws.
Manifolds fit .Valves are not interchangable between 1932 and 30-31 (or 1929 or 1933)
1930 and 1931 heads are identical so that gives you a broad year coverage.

I'll keep looking for a 31 head to replace mine. Untill then I guess I'll have to moth ball the old girl.

I believe we confirmed that a '32 head will fit a '31 block just fine, so you don't need to wait for a '31 head to show up. The only caveat (now there's a big word!)is that you also have to keep the '32 valve train. By your reply are we to assume the '32 head you have is head only without the rest of the stuff, such as valve train, etc. Hate to see these old girls put out to pasture, as they often never get any more "action"

There is a place in Iowa that does cylinder head repair. I believe most of their work is tractor and industrial but they can do your head. When I talked to them the price was $300.00 as I recall. Google will find them for you.

Ok I'll check into that. This head has been repaired a lot of times and the seat that was replaced before blew out. Took it to a head guy who specializes in that kind of repair and he said it would be a wast of money to repair it. Thanks for the recommendation though.

I got a head to fit and it is the correct casting numbers. When installing I found I had to use shorter rocker bolts and head bolts. I guess the head has been shaved to much. Put it on an it sounds like the valves are slightly hitting the pistons. I tried adjusting out on the rockers but then I get way to much tapping. Does anyone make a thicker gasket or a shim. Or is the only option another head?

Send us the casting numbers and measurements of the head (thickness, depth, etc.). A few photos would also help. I didn't think it is possible to shave a '31 head enough so the valves will hit the piston tops. Guess people will try almost anything.
