I am thinking about taking the body of my 47 off the frame so that I can finish cleaning and painting the frame and then stripping and priming the body before putting it back on the frame for the final paint job.

Anyone who has done this - give me your imput please. How difficult is this process? (I do have plenty of time) How do you find (all) the bolts that hold the body to the frame? Any other suggestions or helps.

Thank you so very much.

I have done this to several vehicles.......be prepared......no matter how good shape you think everything is, things are bound to sneak up on you. A lot of guys take this job on, then lose interest and sell their poor project in buckets. I've not had my 46 off the frame, as I've just gotten it but I did frame off a 47 F**d sedan, a 1950 and 1953 Chevy truck, and my 1952 International. It's all about the right equipment and patience, with those two things you can do anything you want!

If you have the Manual...There's a photo in it showing placement of the body bolts...If not, Google "onlinechevymanuals", I saw it there last night...

I would listen to a man of experience ( wndsofchnge ) This is a project that can easily overwhelm the best of intentions...

Good Luck, Kevin
