talkGood Morning
re engine temp gauge, mine isn't working. My question is, can just the sender that goes into the head be replaced, or do the sender with tubing and the dash unit have to be replaced? I'm thinking the whole thing has to go. If that's true does anyone know where same would be available? The unit is in my 37 Master Deluxe 2dr sedan.
Thanks
Ray

If you are the least bit mechanical this can be a do it your self project and cost less then 30 dollars.
The mopar group has full how to repair bulb type gauge if you can not find it, I have the instructions.

Here goes parts list
1 new bulb type gauge from any auto supply or harbor freight. should be less then $25.00
2 small brass tube used in model airplane fuel line.
3 electric soldering iron and solder
4 ice and salt.
now how to
cut old tube near gauge head so that splice will be under dash be careful not to compress tube use the left over to get brass tube that will fit over old tube snugly clean old gauge side tube a little ways from the end but not the very end ,as not to tin the very end. Solder tube into new splice tube carefully not to get solder into end of tube.
now for the fun part.
take new bulb gauge place bulb in salt ice water for at least 10 minuets this will move the gas into the bulb from here on ( KEEP BULB IN ICE WATER UNTIL FINISHED )clean new tube where it will be cut leaving the very end unclean at solder end, cut new tube for correct length careful not to close end ,tin new tube near end insert new bulb tube into splice and solder now remove from ice water gauge is now repaired. DO NOT USE OPEN FLAME TO SOLDER, THE MATERIAL IN THE BULB IS ETHER AND HIGHLY FLAMMABLE IT WILL STAY IN BULB AS LONG IT IS COLD.

Hi Al
Wowzer now I'm excited!!! The gauge repair sounds "cool"(especially with the ice salt water). So I'm going for it!! One question I have is, if I pretin the tubes won't it be tough to insert the tubes into the new splice tube?
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks loads for the info!!!!
Is the splice under the dash for looks or can I do it in the engine bay? Seems easier there instead of getting my old body crunched up under the dash!!

Remove the gauge from the dash and do the repair on work bench.
the new repair tube should be slightly larger so tinning should not be a problem. the reason the very end is not cleaned or tinned is so the solder will not wick there.
