Well I got the steering box out today but can not get the worm gear removed from the steering shaft.

Is it just pressed on ???

I will need to reolace both gears but can't find any. They are really worn. It does not appear The Filling Station sells any for a box this old.

Anyone know a source ???

Last question for now.

Does the uppering steering bushing/horn ring just press out the top of the column ???

That should get me going till I start on the clutch LOL.

Thank you.

I see steering boxes in good condition advertized on eBay regularly. And yes, the horn bushing just pushes out top of column once wheel is removed (use broom handle).

The 1929 and 1930 steering box parts are same, so you can use a 1929 or 1930 worm gears and spur gear to repair your steering box. You can also turn the spur gear around 180 deg. to use an unworn area on the gear.

You can also use a 1931-32 steering box and they will fit straight in, they have a lot more adjustments and reduced steering effort as they have more turns lock to lock.
