Hi Jeff,

I believe that the caps with the blue bowtie would be correct for your EB.

I suspect that you have shocks, but are not recognizing them, as they are not tubular. Here are photos of the left front and left rear shocks on my '36 FB--they look like old-style commercial door closers! The front mounts on the outside of the frame rail, and the rear mounts on the inside of the frame rail. The shock bodies contain light "jack oil" which dampens the movement of the attached arms, which are, through an "elbow" joint, connected to the leaf springs and axles. Hope this helps. ---Wally

i can see how they could bolt on the frame but there are no brackets on the front or back of this truck for the lower arm of the shock to bolt to.and there are deffinatly no shocks present.

My 36 did not have shocks either. What a difference adding them has made for the ride of the truck.

I am not sure If they offered a shock absorber on a 35, but It was an option on the 36 trucks.

Jeff,
Is your truck a 1/2 ton or a bigger truck?
The 34 DB and 35 EB 1/2 ton was sold with single acting or double acting shocks. They may also have been available without shocks.
The photo's show the single acting shock if my memory serves me. they are very similar to the shocks sold on cars but not exactly the same. I think the single acting shock was sold in sets of 4 and the double acting in sets of 2.I have not seen a double acting shock except for pictures in the 34 accessory catalog.
I do not know why a 1/2 ton truck frame would not be pre drilled from the factory to accomade these shocks. Maybe someone else can offer a reason.
As to hubcaps, the 35 EB could have wire wheels, or disc wheels, same as Master car. Both styles of wheels have a different hubcap.
Hope this is helpful, Chris

howdy chris

my truck is 1/2 ton
i think the frame in front is drilled for the shocks
but there is no lower bracket under the leefspring u-bolt
like i just saw on dunfires 36 GMC 1/2 ton.
on the back of this truck there are no holes drilled in the frame
or any other device there to attach shocks at all.
dunfires 36 GMC has a flat plate on the back bolted under the u-bolts to attach the lower arm of the shock.
this 35 eb 1/2 ton has wire wheels.
since i posted this, 35mike and i were talking and he figured the crome skins with the bow tie on them had been striped off of my caps
and i think he's right he seems to have superior inteligents about these old chevrolets.

thanks for the reply
