I have a friend that has has a 57 Chevy V-8 and she wants to replace the battery cables. She has messured her present cables and they are much longer than any that available to purchase. Can anyone tell me how long they should be? Are there any pictures available of how the cables should be laid out? Any recomendations on a good place to purchase?replacement cables?

Thanks for your help.

Er, not so fast there, Gene. nanana

While the battery to starter is overall length of 37&1/2 inches, the battery to ground is 23 inches "center to center holes." dance

Hi & welcome from another Minnesotan.
Just a little tip on the positive battery cable. My '31 is on the road now for 4yrs and I had an 18" #1 positive cable on it and it turned over fairly well. Last week I installed a breaker switch [see pics]on the battery and had to turn it 1/2 turn for a better location for my switch under the floor board. This made me go to a 26" cable so I had one made up that was rated #OO. You wouldn't believe the extra spin I get off it now. Thanks to all the tips I got from this site. So far I like this breaker switch set up.
Good luck on your restro.

I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.
