I had a new radiator built for my '23 sedan. I used the tanks from mine but the lower tank outlet had the hose mount cutoff it at some point and the prior owner had rigged up a bulky hose and clamps to wrap around the broad flat part of the outlet that was left. Since I was getting the radiator rebuilt I thought I would get the outlet fixed as well. I found another old radiator of the same vintage as mine and the radiator shop cut that outlet off and welded it to the lower tank.
I mounted the radiator in the shell today and then mounted it to the car. Everything fit like a glove except ... The outlet pipe was sitting right on the fan belt. I tried to shift the radiator around to gain some clearance but no luck. Obviously the radiator outlet was from a different year. It was a perfect match with what was left of the outlet on my old radiator but I had nothing to compare it to relative to the position of the hose mount part of the outlet which was missing off mine.
Anyway, does anyone know what years had the same lower outlet configuration? I guess I'm heading back to the radiator shop to see if we can invent something but I would like to know what I did wrong.
