Could someone help me identify the motor I have in my 1933 Master. This is what it reads:
Serial number #3550602 (behind fuel pump)
Block casting #836915
0-1-3
Cyl head #836961

My books show it should be:
Cyl Head #836961 (correct)
Block Casting #837231(incorrect)

Do I have the correct motor for this car?????
Any help would be appreciated.

The sight i was on indicated that 836915 cast is correct. The serial number you indicated would've been built march/april. The casting date you have is wrong. You might want to clean it better. It shouldn't be 0. It is either C for march or D for april. Then it's 1st of 33. Is your serial number still on the floor? Probably can tell further by those numbers. After where it says "CA" the next 2 numbers (01-12) indicate the month built. It is either 03 or 04 for that block. Hope that helps....Joe

The 1934 block is cast 837231.The 1933 block had the off set fuel pump mounting bolt holes and the 1934 are straight across from each other.836915 would be the correct casting number for a 1933 Master block.
The 1933 engine serial numbers ran from 3367316 thru 3964077.From your serial number my info puts your engine in the March 1933 production.
Looks to me as if you have the correct block and head. :)
I do have some info that also states that the 837231 block is for a 1933 but this is incorrect.

Hey Joe! Upon further cleaning it does say
C-1-3 cast just below #836915. I do
not have an ID plate on the floor.
What site did you find this info on?
Have you talked to Glen lately?

Chevgene! Thank You. Would the casting number
C-1-3 mean March 1, 1933?
