I am about to change the brake drums and shoes on the front of my '41 Chevy. I am concerned since I have never done this before. I do have the shop book. Is there any advice (or maybe a CD) to guide me in this project? Thanks,
Dan.

Grab your digital camera and take several pictures as you disassemble the unit. Do the same on the other side as it is different. When you say change the drums I assume you mean to have them 'turned'?

Ray: Thanks for the suggestion of the digital camera. I wanted to put new brake drums on. I have already purchased the brake drums. Thanks,
Dan.

Again, Ray has a good sound solution. This time for memory loss. I used to take a piece of paper and a pencil and draw a diagram of the parts as assembled. Camera is quicker and better. But a diagram works also for those of us who don't know where our camera is or how to work it, if we find it. Charlie BTW Dan: This is how I think: I would take the old drums to a shop and see if there is sufficient metal to have them turned. If there is then I would turn and reinstall them and save the new ones for the future. That is, until the old ones cannot be safely turned. If you put on your new ones, you immediately have, upon application of the brakes, four used ones. See?
