I have a 1954 rear-end from a passenger car.If I change from a 4:11 to a 3:73 ratio, how many mph would I gain. Thanks for your help...Richard :confused:

There will be a 10 percent reduction in engine speed.At 60 MPH with the 4.11 it would equal 66 MPH with the 3.70.About a 300 RPM drop.Dosen't sound like much but makes a big difference on the high-way. The 1953-54 stiks had a 3.70 - the PG a 3.54 -that would be a 15% change.

Chevgene, thanks for the info. One other Question that I have is; will the 6 lug axels from a 50s or other Chevy pickup interchange with the 5 lug axels in a passenger car? (50s Chevy)?, I would like to change the 5 lug to 6 lug. Thanks...Richard
