It has been difficult getting info about 1939 Panel Delivery rear bumpers from parts suppliers. Does anyone know which bumper and brackets to use? My truck is a street rod abd bumper was removed and a rear splash pan added.
Thanks,

It might help to know what you have as there is no such vehicle as a panel delivery. Do you have a panel truck(2 back doors) or a sedan delivery(one back door)....Joe

Have had vehicle a little over a week. Seller was calling it Sedan Delivery. It is not. It is a Light Delivery Truck(1/2 Ton rating) from an old Chev. truck spec. chart. It does have 2 rear doors. Reproduction parts suppliers have no info on Panel trucks. 1939 Panel

Hi 39 welcome to chat. Your panel shares rear bumpers with Suburbans and sedan deliveries 38 and 39. Six mounting brackets are required. The bumper is the same as 38 and 39 cars and trucks except it's pushed in at the center closer to the body to make loading easier. All these parts will be hard/impossible to find. The bumper boys chrome shop in souther California made a rear bumper for my 41 sedan delivery by bending a passenger bumper. All the brackets are two inch flat stock that could be bent up at home. I have a 40 suburban with a 39 rear bumper on it. If you decide to go this route I could make tracing of the brackets for you to copy.

41carguy,
I got a bumper from Bumper Boyz that theysaid would work. It looks like it should. Ordered brackets from supplier, waited, they sent totally wrong ones. Ordered from Chevysofthefortys, received a set of 6, no instructions. Called them and they do not know installation. Do you know which piece bolts to frame and to which hole in frame? Maybe a picture?
Thanks, 1939panel

Hi, 39 panel I have 4 pictures of brackets for you.
I've restored several cars from the frame up but CAN NOT figure out how to post pictures on this site. Give me your E-mail address and I'll send them to you.
