Gidday fellas,

WooHoo - Bout bloody time we had another one in progress, GREAT TO SEE!! and another Aussie at that pineapple best of luck and I am only to happy to help you out all where I can, although I am still learning myself..

What are your plans for the car??

PS Can you please take a few photos of the rear seat timbers on the inside. I saved the ebay ad photos from this car when it was listed a few weeks back but I need some close up shots of the back lower section that the body attaches to and the floor in the back also, but if you can go snap happy on that whole area that would be a great help as i am about to tackle that area of my car...

my email address is grant@signwriter.com.au

Once again good luck and enjoy...... Cheers

Cheers Grant.

The plans are to keep it stock. I think the color will be black gards with a cream body(any thoughts on color choice would be good.

Hi 1928 Chev Tourer,

Gunna be another fine example of an Australian Holden bodied 28 Chev. One of these days I would love to line one up next to an American produced one and see what the differences are.

Good luck on your resto, you have a great starting point.

Regards

Ray

Hi 1928 Tourer.

Let me welcome you to the site, its a great site, and you will pick up an enourmous amount of knowledge. As for assistance sometimes, as demonstarted by the 100 plus that have viewed this post already, you may or may not get a reply, even though your a newbie. Perserver my friend, a few Aussies are right behind you, and hopefully over the other side of the world a hand will stretch out in friendship also.

Regards

Ray

Gooday Fellas,
Couldn't let this pass without a Welcome too, from a fellow South Australian. Wish you all the best with the restoration 1928 Chev Tourer.

Just a general query: I noted the Caged Nuts on the rear wheel arches - are these available anywhere?? I have a mate doing a (cough) 1927 Buick that needs a few identical ones for his tub. Otherwise I will have to have a go at making them.
Stationary :)

Chevsofthe40s sell caged nuts. Might be a bit expensive with shipping, though.

Sorry, I just looked them up in the catalog, and they are for '31-'48 and are a bit different than the ones shown above.

Hi all, I am toying with the idea of turning this in to an 1928 ARMY Staff Car, the car would be Olive drab with a dark tan interior, what do you guys think? The only reason I am thinking about this color scheme is I have not seen one.

please feel free to say whats on your mind as your input would be great.

Hi,

The numbers you have shown are the part numbers and casting numbers. The engine number is in your block photo, in the machined flat section as per holden etc. If you want to know if your engine has its original head, remove the exhaust manifold. On the rear head exhaust port mounting face for the manifold, there is a number stamped. If that is the same as your block, you have a complete engine, if not it only means another head was put on your block.

Your project is looking good

Cheers

Ray

Is there someone out there that makes reproduction aluminium radiator surrounds for a 1928? Or do I have to try and have my one repaired?

Thanks

Hey 1928 Chev Tourer,

When I type your name seems like I am sending a message to my Chev.

Dont worry about Grant, either on drugs or his new glasses must be from Aldi. Heh heh heh. Sorry Grant, I know you got then from the $2 shop.

Radiator surrounds, not shrouds can be purchased from Peter Jackson at

http://www.jackson-s.com/olderaservices/

http://www.jackson-s.com/olderaserv...Chevrolet_Radiator_repair_panel_aluminum

Rad Surround Rep Chev 1928 ALUMINIUM $324
Rad Surround Rep Chev 1928 Steel $350

The email address Grant has given is for very high quality honey comb radiator cores.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Ray
