I need some help decoding the numbers on my coupe. car # 6HB06-14652 engine # I 769648 casting # GM 838710 ID plate style # 38-1217 body # 05913 trim # 69 paint # 229 transmission # 590822 GM5 C228 It is amazing what can be learned just by reading the different postings. thank you Grant 1938 master coupe 1966 triumph tr4a vcca 047674

Chev Nut ChatMaster - 25,000 Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 30,701 Likes: 141 West Allis,Wi.	6=car assembled at the Oakland, CA. factory HB=1938 Master 06=assembled in June 14652 is the assembly sequence Engine numbers ran from 1187822 through 1915446. Your engine number is actually 1769648. All 1938 blocks had the 838710 casting number 38-1217=1938 Master business coupe body #5913 is production sequence number at that plant and for that body style. The first 0 indiactes body made at Fisher Body plant at Oakland Trim 69=tan mohair upholstery - no other choices paint #229=Wood Leaf brown metallic color The 590822 is the casting number for 1937-1939 transmission case.
