I bought a VT-3 Turn signal unit, the 6V flasher from the Filling Station and have a set of old 6v turn signal lamps. I wired them up like the directions said but they will not flash. I can manually turn them on and off. I believe the instructions were for 12V. What am I doing wrong. Doe's any body have a drawing for 6V turn signals with a flasher?

There is no difference in 6 or 12v wiring it appears the flasher is not installed correctly if it is a two prong flasher one prong goes to the switch the other goes to power supply and it should be labeled which prong is power in,if three prong the same applys the third prong goes to the indactor light if it has one.

Is it possible that I don't have enough load on the circuit to switch the flasher? The bulbs in the lamps are small and probably don't pull much

Yes that is a good possibility.

Hi,
I am fitting a VT-3 (12V) and have found that only the RHS brake light would operate if wired as per diagram. To fix it I swopped terminals 3 and 4. The brake light has to do a few things and must go onto a particular multi pin in the switch. Just to complicate things I am using a 6 to 12v inverter and isolating each system(the indicator circuit and the rest of the car) with 6v relays.ie brake switch, park lights and tail lights. I can then use 12v LED tail light/indicators and 12v LED switch-backs in the cowl lights.
Regards,
John
