Hey Im looking for tips on how to assemble my 32 roadster body. I have pre=fit all of the panels and now want to have the underside of the panles painted and sealed. I have the body on a rolling frame but the door fits arent correct yet.there close but still hitting on the door jams. My though was that until I have the body bolted to the cars frame and shimmed the door fits will continue to be out. I was thinking of just partialy nailing the panles untill the final fit up . \any tips or suggestions would be
greatly appreciated

You can use tacks or short straight shank nails to temporarily attach the sheet metal. To remove all you have to do is force a chisel under the edge of the metal next to the nail to get the head far enough out to get a hold of it. Putting the body back on the frame is best. Take your time and get things the way you want before putting on the expensive paint job.

I have used lacquer for 30 years and I love the stuff! And, it is very easy to use for the home restorer as well.

Hey J.Y.D Ive talked to Bill Hersh , I want to change from the original paint code(1080 apple green) to a darker shade of green. On you tube theres a 32 cabrolet thats dark green .I know ive talked to you before about the paint code selection ,but I havent been able to find a paint chip for the canadian cars. Would you have the number of the darkest green available for the canadian cars.

Lucky for you. You can't buy lacquer in California anymore.

Other than paint code 1080, here are the other greens that I have listed for the 1932 Canadian models:

Number 1055 is Dark Harbour Green. Number 1063 is Avenue Green and Ticonderoga Green. Paint number 1072 is Evergreen Dark and number 1073 is Brantford Carriage Green.

By the way, you might want to check with Hibernia Auto Restoration because I think they have a better selection of paint than Bill Hirsch. Here is their web site: http://www.hiberniaautorestorers.com/

Also, black lacquer is still stocked on the shelf at my local PPG dealer here in Southern Oregon. Colors are available too but they have to be mixed on order.

Would you have any idea what the darkest green would be? I have almost finished stripping the remaining paint ,When doing so I took pictures along the way it shows a darker green band on the top of the door and around the inside of the cowl. If I knew how Ild post some pictures. By the way thanks for the heads up on the other paint supplier Ill check it out. Have a great day. JK.

Jack... You may want to try Grant Fisher about the paint codes and colours. I'm not sure where you are at, but I believe Grant is in Mississauga. He owns the green '31 roadster that was in Flint, and I think he also has a '32. I'm not sure if he's on the chat site, but I could scare up a phone # if you want to drop a message in my inbox.

Not without looking at a color chip and Canadian color chips are pretty rare.
