I have a 36 std 2-door Sedan. When the car is warm and has been run for a while the tranny leaks from the forward end (throught the cluth cover). If you drive for a half hour and park it for 5 minutes there will be a decent size puddle of gear oil. I have had the tranny out twice, the froward seal has been replace, and still it leaks. I have tried all different types of oil including 600w with no luck of stoping the leak. I have drained the oil and made sure that the correct 1.5 pints of gear oil is in the tranny. At this point i am stuck with ideas. Does any one have any idea how to fix the problem. Thanks for any assitance.

There was no seal in that location from the factory-this topic has been discussed here several times....try doing a search in either the mechanical or 1933-36 forums.

Did you replace the main gear retainer? The retainer has spiral gooves that channel any lubricant that gets through the bearing back toward the bearing. If the gap between input shaft and retainer gets too wide then the grooves are not effective.

The forward bearing retainer has been replaced. Have been searching for a sealed/Shelded for a 1936 standard. Part numbers are ND47106 (954111) does anyone happen to know a current corresponding bearing number that is sealed on one end. Cant find a cross reference for the bearing above. apperciate any assitance
Thanks

The only way I can suggest is to take the existing bearing to parts store and get a replacement by size and type.
I have done this for several hard to get bearings.
