How do you remove the ignition switch from the dash panel? I don't see any locknut either inside or outside.

Thanks, Pat

The outside ring is a spanner type. Should be pin holes on the side of the bezel for a spanner wrench....Joe

Thanks Joe,

There are holes as you describe. I also recall the type of wrench, half-circle with a pin at on end of it. Are those still commercially available? Or should I try and borrow one from an old dealership? I hate to use punches & vice grips.

Regards, Pat

Put a small drift pin in one of the holes and very carefully tap on it in a counter-clockwise direction. The bezel should unscrew. If not, then you will probably need a spanner wrench.

Doubt that an old dealer will have a spanner wrench. They are occasionally found but making one will likely be your best option. A piece of flat steel, aluminum with thickness equal (or a little less) to the diameter of the hole is best. Cut out a half circle equal to the diameter of the retainer leaving a hooked end to fit into the hole in the retainer. I have used aluminum as it is strong enough but soft enough to not mess up the retainer.

That's great! Ya, the small drift pin method usually works in removing the electrolock bezel.

Glad to help out!
