Without any advance notice, today our Hosting Service moved us to a new server - including all of CHAT and all of the VCCA membership area. I found out because we experienced about a 20 minute outage during the transition.

They sent me an apology but touted that our new server is larger and faster --- and that we should see an improvement in performance.

So.... I'm posting this to ask you to note anything that you see over the next couple of days. Thanks!!

Thanks for the update. I was on yesterday during the outage and wondered what was happening. Works great this AM. Thanks for all that you do.

The site is working ok, but if it's faster, I can't tell.

Seems to me it loaded quicker and changed pages a bit quicker, and it seems to be posting quicker, but I can't be too good a judge since i just installed a new Netgear wireless router.

Bill,

I haven't really noticed any change in the site's performance either. Maybe if you added some falling golf balls or snow flakes we'd have a better indication of improved speed. I'm sure the JYD would agree. He always seemed to like those little added touches.

No wait, not "like", what is the word?

Hate, despise, abhor, detest, loathe ...

In all seriousness though, thanks Bill, for all the time and effort you put in to keep this site going.

Happy Motoring,

I pinged vcca.org and the returns were twice to three times faster than in the past. In the 'real' world the pages load faster.

Mine seems faster and with the temperature at 70 degrees I'd go with the golf balls. Maybe for the one day Saturday we could have beer mugs. beermugs

It's working great, thanks Bill, for all of your hard work! If you have falling beermugs beer mugs on the 17th please make sure they have GREEN BEER in them.

I had noticed the forum section was working faster tonight and then this thread explained it all. The hosts claim wasnt "spin" so far, but with only a few clients on a server that is to be expected then as more clients join in the speed drops.

Bill,
I can tell that it is much faster. Oh, yeah! Whereas it used to take a thousanths of a second for a function to complete it now only takes ninety-nine hundredths of a second. Easily noticeable. Thank the provider for their great concern and for the update. Great progress, that. wave

Does it cost more?

BTW: The turds do seem to drop a little faster from the knight's horse. But, it could just be my imagination. Go figure. Agrin
