Can someone tell me if the fenders and running boards on the f**d were stamped by the same manufacturer and identical to the Chevy? Having a really hard time finding some good fenders for the truck.

I have no idea who stamped them but no fender ever interchanged between a Chevy and Ford as far as I know. Are you looking for front or rear fenders?

Front, the running boards I looked at, and fenders too, were in a bunch of f**d stuff and were really similar to mine, just wondering if anyone knew for sure.

What yrs. will work on it? I found some '24, know they are similar just dont know how many yrs. they were the same before the rounded style came out.

The same fenders (front and rear) were used on the '27 1/2 ton truck, the '27 1 ton truck, and the '28 1 ton truck. The '28 1 ton truck did not use the smooth fenders, like the '28 National models.
I have some of these fenders. They are stored under a friend's house. I'll take some pics in the next few days.

I think Dean is correct about the front fenders. The rear fenders for the 1 ton trucks are larger to fit over the bigger tires.

The front mudguards used on 1 ton trucks from 1926-1928 are the same.They look like 1926 passenger car guards,but the main difference is the length of the skirt from the inside edge to where the guard sits on the chassis rail.The truck guards are about 1" to 1-1/2" longer than the '26 passenger car guards,to accomodate the use of 20" wheels & tyres,as are the rear guards. Half ton commercials possibly just used passenger car guards.

Regarding my comment about the extra sheet metal on the rear fenders, I'm asking anyone with the expertise to shed some light on this detail.
nthestiks, I highly recommend you join the VCCA. The info and advice in these forums alone are worth the price of membership. Going to VCCA events and hobnobbing with kindred souls is icing on the cake.

I was under the impression that the 1928 one ton used 1927 passenger front guards. 1927 one ton used >26 guards with slightly higher skirt.

All 1 ton trucks from 1926-28 used the '26 looking front guards with the longer skirt.

I guess it depends on what publication you believe in. The only publications to believe in are from Chevrolet. Most recent (last 40 years) publications are fraught with errors. Some authors and publishers refuse to make corrections even when documentation is provided. One commonly tauted mis-conception is that trucks used year old passenger sheet metal. To paraphrase it is BS. Yes some years of trucks carried over sheet metal (did not change as fast or often as passenger models) because they were primarily work vehicles and didn't need to be renewed as often.
