Im having trouble installing my cowel band on my 31 coupe.
It's been polished and looks like new but. I can't remember if the edge that is rounded is facing the front or the back of the car.
The edges of the large U shaped cowel band have a rounded and a straight edge.
Anybody know?

Have you tried putting the cowl band on both ways to see how it fits?

The edge with the straight and slightly longer face faces the hood. The other edge if I recall has a rolled edge and faces windshield. This prevents the band from scratching the paint in the exposed area, and the straight edge on hood side stops short of the paint. It will only fit well one way.

Yeah ...it only fit one way, with the straight edge facing the engine.
It was a job , I had to pull out my brake and clutch pedal assembly just to get to the inside screw that holds the band to the cowel. Not to mention the linkage and kick board.
After a few hours of labor and a cold one it's all back together ,one step closer to completion. The bright finish of the piece really adds to the look of my car.
Next.... Build my seat spring cushion wood frame.
