i have a 1934 Atwater Kent car radio and would like to know if cars of that time were negative ground or positive ground. i would like to put power to it and see if it works.

Check and see if it still has the mechanical vibrator. If it does, it doesn't make any difference for a test run.

It will look like a can made of metal that can be removed. It will have either 4 pins or 5.
