Can anyone tell me what colour the hood latches should be on a 1929 & 1930?? Where they black like the guards or chrome plated?

Andrew

While the rest of the crew may be in the same predicament, it's almost always the pilot's job to arrive at the crash site first.

Holden Body? In the USA there were several different hood latches used depending upon the factory in which the car was manufactured.

Yes mate, I guess my question ultimately relates to a Holden bodied Chev... but there is precious little guidance about these finer details on the Holden bodied vehicles so I'm just looking for some guidance on what was done by the original plants back in the USA.

BUT... if someone knows the specific answer to that question in relation to Holden bodied Chevs that would be great!

The ones I've taken off my 1930 seem to have been a painted back colour. The ones on my 1929 have been chromed but I don't even think they are the right ones so I'm sure it's not the original factory finish.

On US passenger cars, the "T" type of latch was cad. plated. The "Candy Cane" style of latch was either cad. plated or chrome plated, depending upon the year, and the truck latches (both styles) were black.

Thanks Dawg, that's interesting to know that there were two styles of hood latches. The old 1929 ute that I dragged off a farm has the "T" type hood latches and it was originally a Sports Roadster. The other two were both tourers and had the "candy cane" handles.

Mmmm... learning all the time!
