As I understand it, not from the factory. The Standard Coupe (3 window) sold for $535, no frills (including no bumpers,$15 extra). For $550 ($565 with bumpers), you could get the Deluxe Coupe, the same car in the Deluxe version, complete with twin sidemounts, cowl lights and stoneguard all installed at factory.
Having said that, of course a dealer could add sidemounts (and new front fenders/brackets), cowl lights and stoneguard at buyer's request to a Standard Coupe, not an easy thing to do, but who knows, perhaps as a sales tactic for end of year inventory.

Yes, and most likely came that way direct from factory. There were 20 models of the Chevrolet car in 1931, including roadsters, 3 types of coupes (3 window #31557, 5 window coupe #31567, and 5 window sport coupe #31558), and cabriolets, 2 door coaches, 4 door sedans and phaetons, all of which were also available in a Deluxe version, and some in sport version. Check the '31 Chevy site in the forum list for lots of details.
My '31 Coach is Canadian made. In Canada, Coach's were job #31551 (same as in USA), but I understand the Standard Coach was model 100 and the Deluxe model (AKA Special in Canada)was model 105. This is all probably more than you wanted to know, but every '31 Chev owner should know all it's relatives!!

O.k. Now that I'm certain that I have a deluxe model after all this time,I have a question about my window garnish. From what I know ,there should be a V shaped door cap along the lower side of the window opening . That is ,According to Hampton. I don't have that . I have a straight window garnish. As if it's a standard model. What gives? Stanman

There has been an assumption that the cars with "Deluxe" exterior (cowl lights, side mount fenders, gravel screens) also had a "Deluxe" interior. The so called "Deluxe" window mouldings had the shallow "V" on the bottom. The doors had double stitched panels. I hate to "burst the bubble". Each body type had window mouldings independent of the exterior. The Standard Coupe (31557) for instance had black moldings (with flat bottom mouldings) and single stitched panels.

My car job # is 31557 . So does that mean my car was an upgraded standard model? Because I have dual side mounts , two cowel lights , and straight and flat black window garnish. I don't have original door panels to see any stitching . Stanman

Both the Standard Coupe (3W) and the Deluxe Coupe (3W) had same job # 31557. So what you have is a Deluxe Coupe. They called the 5 window version the 5 Window Coupe and 5 Window Deluxe Coupe. They called the same car with a rumble seat in lieu of a trunk the Sport Coupe and Deluxe Sport Coupe. So there were 6 coupe models in all! You may think yours could be an upgraded Standard Coupe, but technically speaking, you could not order "upgrades" or "Options" from the factory at that time. You ordered a Standard Coupe, or a Deluxe Coupe, that was it. However, as mentioned above, the local dealer could always change the features on a car by simply ordering in the parts necessary to convert a Standard Coupe to equivalent of a Deluxe Coupe, but that was likely not common. Unless you can tell car was upgraded after leaving factory (there could be tell tale signs such as cowl lights not being symmetrical, or sidemount hardware not mounted identically etc),it is likely a factory Deluxe Coupe.

Upgraded? I guess you can call it upgraded, or Deluxe or what you want. Chevrolet advertised the Deluxe models in 1931 so I would just call it a Deluxe Coupe. Just be aware that it does not mean that it has an upgraded interior too.

I've decided that my car will remain a deluxe coupe on the outside with standard interior. If I don't have the fancy garnish I won't need the extra stitching on the door and the extra row of buttons on the front of the seat. It's purely gingerbread anyway, and should not detract from the overall look of my beautiful 1931 "DELUXE" 3 Window Coupe.
Can anyone tell I'm starting to get excited about reaching the end of this 10year restoration? The helpful comments I'm able to generate are extremely useful to me in many ways. I want to thank you all. Hopefully in person some day. Stan Sweeney.........Stanman
