O, got a question. I am having a NEW trim tag made as the original was lost before I got the car. I KNOW some of the information

This is a 1940 Master Deluxe 4 door, so

Style # 40 -1503 (I think)
Body #
Paint # 273 (Black)
Trim # was 86 (Red trim)

My questions are concerning the Body numbers.

First, it was built in Buffalo, so would the plant be a "B", or was the B used for Baltimore? Or did they use a 12 as in the serial number for the body plant?

Second, what do I use for the BODY number? would it be anything close to the serial number?

I am at a loss on these two simple questions.

Thanks.

Your question isn't that simple. The second line is the plant code which is a letter & the other is the production run of that body from that plant. The plant code is easy providing the serial number plate is correct for that car. The production number could be a crap shoot unless someone has gone to all the trouble of starting a profile on just those cars with the important information. You could be close...but.

Style number for a 1940 Md 4 door would be 401519

Body number (letter) for Buffalo would be (I am still looking)

Paint number would be 273 for black with red stripe or 274 for black with ivory stripe

Trim number refers to interior trim (upholstery) and would be #86
