Hi, Iam brand new to this site, please bear with me. In the last few weeks I purchased a 31 chevy truck, 7300lbs gross weight. Trying to verify that it is a 31. And is this rated as 1 1/2 Ton? Were do I look on the chassis and engine for numbers. Haven't found any tags.

This is a new adventure for me. The last 20+ years I have been collecting hit & miss engines and restoring them. Thought this truck might be nice to haul them to shows!

Will be needing help in the futurre locating parts I am sure. Tim

Hi 31chevytrk,

Welcome to the Chevy Chatter II. We are glad you dropped by. You have come to the right place to get information about your 1 1/2 ton 1931 truck.

May I suggest you move your post further down the Forum to the Thread on Trucks. They will better be able to answer your questions.

The truck serial number plate should be screwed on the engine side of the passenger firewall. If it is missing then you will need to get the numbers off the engine, transmission. Then describe the instruments, wheelbase, number of wheels. They will all help identify the year and model.

My page gives you the model numbers for '31. It's either an LT or an M-series:

The engine number is on a stamped pad on the block side.
